Day Ahead Conference

Denver, CO Meeting
January 6, 2011
(with ASSA and Federal Reserve Banks of Kansas City and Dallas)

Submission Deadline: May 1, 2010

The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas will be sponsoring the fourth annual “day ahead” conference on Thursday, January 6, 2011 (the day before the beginning of the 2011 ASSA meetings). The Federal Reserve System employs a large number of economists whose primary research interests relate to financial markets and financial institutions. The goal of the “day ahead” conference is to help build a community among these economists within the Federal Reserve System, as well as give these economists the opportunity to develop ties outside the System.

The “day ahead” conference is not a closed System conference but places emphasis on paper presentations by financial economists within the Federal Reserve System. In the spirit of strengthening outside research ties, organizers of the “day ahead” conference are collaborating with the International Banking, Economics, and Finance Association (IBEFA), and the International Association of Financial Engineers (IAFE). Thus, submitting authors (if they desire) will also have the opportunity to have their papers considered for presentation during the IBEFA sessions at the ASSA meetings (January 7-9).

As noted above, the organizers view this conference as a mechanism to establish a stronger community of financial economists within the Federal Reserve System. With that goal in mind, the organizers are very open to suggestions about how to maximize participation.

Submissions

We are open to all types of papers focused on financial markets and institutions, including papers that are relevant to Federal Reserve policies. Papers with a financial stability or an international focus are especially encouraged.

Completed papers (which will be given a much higher preference) or detailed abstracts (1000 words or less) should be sent electronically by May 1, 2010, to Niki Maas, (niki.l.maas@dal.frb.org). Please indicate whether you would like your paper considered only for the “day ahead” meeting (January 6, 2011) or both the “day ahead” and the IBEFA meetings (January 6-9, 2011). Presentation at the IBEFA Annual Meeting requires that at least one author per paper be a member of IBEFA.

Paper submissions can be in either Word or PDF formats.
