Founded in 1972, IBEFA (formerly NAEFA) is a non-profit, international, scholarly organization dedicated to the study of banking, economic, and financial issues in countries and across the global economy and financial markets.

- Provide a framework for the exchange of scholarly research and ideas among its Members.
- Promote individual and collective research dealing with the purposes of this Association.

- Encourage and reinforce academic exchange on economics, economic policy, and financial markets between institutions of higher education, research centers, and other institutions devoted to those fields.
